Dash vs Runbear

Dash vs Runbear: Dash has nothing to build, and Runbear limits who can build.

Runbear limits who can build agents to 5 people on the Team plan and 10 on Business. Whoever holds one of those seats decides what each agent is allowed to do in your other apps. In Dash, any teammate can connect a tool and choose who approves its actions.

Dash

AI teammate in Slack or Teams

Built for action

Dash is an AI teammate your team asks in Microsoft Teams, Slack, SMS or web chat. It connects to 3,000+ tools, and routine changes, like sending email or updating a CRM, wait for a teammate to approve them.

Runbear

Useful in its lane

Runbear gives each team its own named agent, and the same agent can work in Slack and Microsoft Teams with one set of instructions, knowledge and tools. It says it connects to 2,000+ tools.

Side by side

The practical buying comparison.

Axis Dash Runbear
Who can set it up for a team

No limit. Any member can connect a tool and start asking.

Edge

Builders create and manage agents. The Team plan includes 5 and the Business plan 10, though Runbear's pricing page says "No seat tax".

Tradeoff
Who decides what waits for approval

Nobody has to. Routine changes wait by default, and an authorized teammate can switch one from Ask to Auto so it runs without waiting.

Edge

The builder. They switch actions on or off for each tool, and approval steps, like the Approve, Edit and Reject buttons in Runbear's CRM recipe, come from instructions they write.

Tradeoff
Unused credits

Roll over month to month while the subscription is active.

Edge

Plan credits reset each billing cycle.

How Dash works

Ask. Approve. Ship. Remember.

01 βœ“

Ask in chat

DM Dash or mention it in the channel where the work already lives.

02 βœ“

Dash pulls context

It reads the relevant channel context, memory, files, and connected tools.

03 βœ“

It drafts the output

Reports, docs, dashboards, CRM updates, emails, PR reviews, or summaries.

04 βœ“

You approve risk

Review actions according to your connection permissions and task approval settings.

05 βœ“

Dash ships

The result lands in Slack or Microsoft Teams with owners, links, and next steps attached.

06 βœ“

It remembers

The format and preference become part of the team rhythm for next time.

In chat

Three workflows where Dash should win.

Illustrative workflows, not customer results. Numbers are examples; execution depends on connected tools, permissions, and approval settings.

Dana 10:05 AM

@Dash add Sam Ortiz to the onboarding sheet: starts November 17, needs a laptop and a second monitor.

Dash App

Here's the row I'll add to "New hires" in the onboarding sheet:

  • βœ“Name: Sam Ortiz
  • βœ“Start date: November 17
  • βœ“Equipment: laptop, second monitor

Add 1 row to the onboarding sheet

Nothing changes in Google Drive until someone approves.

Approve Edit

Why it wins

The HR team didn't need anyone to build them an agent. Dana asked in plain words and got the row back to check.

@Dash refund Lena Park's last charge in Stripe. Her order arrived damaged.

Dash App

Found it: $40.00 on October 28 for order 1186.

Refund $40.00 in Stripe

Waits for Priya, who approves Stripe actions.

Approve Edit

Why it wins

Raj handles the customer and Priya owns the money. She set that split once, when she connected Stripe.

Leo 4:15 PM

@Dash which HubSpot customers renew in the next 30 days? Draft each of them a renewal reminder.

Dash App

Three renew before November 30. I've drafted a reminder for each:

  • βœ“Brightwater Dental, renews November 12
  • βœ“Kessler Logistics, renews November 19
  • βœ“Oak Street Studio, renews November 26

Send 3 renewal emails

Ask me to change any draft before you approve.

Approve Edit

Why it wins

Looking up renewals in HubSpot ran straight away. Sending the emails waits for an OK. That split is Dash's default, not a setting Leo had to find.

Choose Dash if

  • βœ“Your work starts in Slack or Microsoft Teams and crosses business tools.
  • βœ“You want outputs, owners, approvals, and follow-up in one thread.
  • βœ“You want one AI teammate for the whole team, not per-seat math.
  • βœ“You need memory that improves repeated workflows over time.

Where Dash is better

Runbear's own docs say a team agent "acts on its own." In Dash, a refund, an email or a CRM update waits in the thread for a teammate's OK from day one.

FAQ

Questions before you pick.

Who can approve an action in Dash?

By default, any teammate with access to that tool's connection can approve or deny a pending action, not just the person who asked. Whoever connected the tool can name specific approvers, and admins can change that for any connection.

Does Runbear bill per person?

Not per seat. Runbear bills on two measures instead: credits, which agents use as they work, and interactors, the distinct people who talk to its agents in a month.
