Dash vs Claude Cowork

Dash vs Claude Cowork: one AI teammate for the whole team, or one person's agent.

Claude Cowork works for one person, on their own files. Dash works for the whole team in Slack or Microsoft Teams, and asks before it changes anything.

Dash

AI teammate in Slack or Teams

Built for action

Dash is one AI teammate your whole team asks in Slack or Microsoft Teams. The request, the work and the approval sit in the same thread, so anyone can follow along or pick it up. Claude Cowork is Anthropic's agent for one person: it works in the folders and tools you choose, and each session stays in your Claude account.

Useful in its lane

Claude Cowork is a strong agent for one person's research, analysis and document work across your own files and tools. It runs on macOS and Windows, on the web and on mobile, and its scheduled tasks run in the cloud even while your computer is asleep. Plugins bundle ready-made skills and app connections into one install.

Quick take

Claude Cowork works for one person, on their own files. Dash works for the whole team in Slack or Microsoft Teams, and asks before it changes anything.

The practical buying comparison.

Axis Dash Claude Cowork
Where you ask for work

In Slack, Microsoft Teams, SMS and web chat. The team mentions Dash in the channels and chats it already uses.

Edge

In the Claude desktop app, on the web, on mobile and in the Chrome side panel. Slack is a connector it can read from. Anthropic's pages don't say you can message Cowork in Slack; Claude Tag is Anthropic's separate Slack product.

Tradeoff
Who can see and pick up the work

Everyone in the channel sees the request, the progress and the result, so a teammate can continue a request someone else started.

Edge

Each session belongs to one person's Claude account. Anthropic: "Sessions can't be shared with others, but you can share individual artifacts you create during a session."

Tradeoff
Files on your computer

Works in your connected apps and the team chat, not in folders on one person's computer.

Tradeoff

Works directly in the folders and tools you choose. Tasks that use local files, your browser or your computer need the desktop app open.

Edge
Approval before acting

Reads run on their own. Sending email, posting, writing to a CRM or spending money waits for approval in the thread, and anyone with access to that connection can approve.

Edge

Manual mode, the default, asks you before actions such as using your connectors; Auto mode asks less. Computer use runs "without the permission checks that gate other Cowork tools."

Tradeoff
Scheduled work

Recurring reports and scheduled tasks. Dash reads back the schedule and destination and offers a test run first.

Tie

Scheduled tasks run in the cloud. Anthropic advises against scheduling tasks that "send messages on your behalf, make purchases, or take other actions that are difficult to undo."

Tie
Connected tools

3,000+ tools in the catalog, plus a browser for web apps with no connector.

Tie

Connectors, plugins that bundle skills and connectors, and a built-in browser in the Cowork side panel.

Tie
Pricing model

One shared plan for the whole workspace with no per-seat fees, so everyone in the channel can ask. Free credits to start, no credit card.

Edge

A paid Claude plan per person: Pro is $20 a month ($17 billed annually), and Team standard seats are $25 a month ($20 billed annually). Cowork "consumes limits faster than Chat."

How Dash works

Ask. Approve. Ship. Remember.

01 βœ“

Ask in chat

DM Dash or mention it in the channel where the work already lives.

02 βœ“

Dash pulls context

It reads the relevant channel context, memory, files, and connected tools.

03 βœ“

It drafts the output

Reports, docs, dashboards, CRM updates, emails, PR reviews, or summaries.

04 βœ“

You approve risk

Review actions according to your connection permissions and task approval settings.

05 βœ“

Dash ships

The result lands in Slack or Microsoft Teams with owners, links, and next steps attached.

06 βœ“

It remembers

The format and preference become part of the team rhythm for next time.

In chat

Three workflows where Dash should win.

Illustrative workflows, not customer results. Numbers are examples; execution depends on connected tools, permissions, and approval settings.

@Dash post the Monday numbers: last week's QuickBooks revenue, open HubSpot deals, and anything overdue.

Dash App

I pulled last week's invoices from QuickBooks and the open deals from HubSpot.

  • βœ“Revenue compared with the week before
  • βœ“Six open deals, two with no activity in 10 days
  • βœ“Three invoices more than 30 days overdue

I posted it in the same format as last Monday and tagged the deal owners.

Why it wins

The report lands in the channel where the whole team reads it, instead of in one person's session.

Jon 10:15 AM

@Dash draft a follow-up to every client who hasn't replied to last week's proposal.

Dash App

I checked the sent proposals and the replies in Gmail.

  • βœ“Four clients with no reply
  • βœ“One already booked a call, so I skipped them
  • βœ“Three follow-ups drafted in your usual tone

Send 3 follow-ups

Nothing is sent until someone approves.

Approve Edit

Why it wins

The drafts and the approval sit in the shared thread, so a teammate can check them and approve if Jon is busy.

@Dash Jon is out today. Finish his supplier price check from this morning and add the new quote from the email thread.

Dash App

I found Jon's request earlier in this channel and the comparison I started for him.

  • βœ“Added the new quote from the supplier's email
  • βœ“Updated the side-by-side table
  • βœ“Flagged one price that changed since last month

The finished table is in the thread for Jon when he's back.

Why it wins

A teammate picks up work someone else started, because the request and its history live in the channel, not in one person's account.

Choose Dash if

  • βœ“Your work starts in Slack or Microsoft Teams and crosses business tools.
  • βœ“You want outputs, owners, approvals, and follow-up in one thread.
  • βœ“You want one AI teammate for the whole team, not per-seat math.
  • βœ“You need memory that improves repeated workflows over time.

Where Dash is better

Dash is better when the work belongs to the team, not one person. If someone starts a Cowork session and then goes on holiday, Anthropic says the session can't be shared with others. With Dash the request, the progress and the result sit in the team's chat thread, so a teammate can finish what you started.

Dash asks before it changes anything. Sending email, posting, writing to a CRM and spending money all wait for a yes in the thread, where the team can see exactly what's about to go out. Cowork asks the one person running the session, and Anthropic says its computer use skips the permission checks that gate its other tools.

And nobody needs a seat to ask. Every person who uses Cowork needs their own paid Claude plan. Dash runs on one shared plan for the workspace, with no per-seat fees.

FAQ

Questions before you pick.

How is Dash different from Claude Cowork?

Claude Cowork works for one person. It acts on your own files and tools, and Anthropic says its sessions can't be shared with others. Dash is one AI teammate your whole team asks in Slack, Microsoft Teams, SMS or web chat. It works across 3,000+ tools and asks for a yes in the shared thread before it sends, posts, writes to your tools or spends money.

Can Claude Cowork work in Slack or Microsoft Teams?

Not as far as Anthropic's pages say. Cowork can read Slack through a connector, but the pages don't say you can message it in Slack or Microsoft Teams. Claude Tag is Anthropic's Slack product: in beta on Team and Enterprise plans, with Microsoft Teams listed as coming soon.

Is Claude Cowork going away?

No. On September 16, 2026, Anthropic announced that Cowork and chat are merging into one Claude, rolling out first on Pro and Max. Team organizations keep chat and Cowork as separate modes for now, and on Enterprise the merged version is a beta an admin turns on.

What does Claude Cowork cost for a team of 10?

Cowork needs a paid Claude plan for each person. Ten Team standard seats are $250 a month, or $200 a month billed annually. Premium seats with more usage are $125 each a month, or $100 billed annually. Dash has no per-seat fees: one shared plan covers the whole workspace.

Can Dash and Claude Cowork work together?

Yes. People can keep Cowork for work on their own files, while Dash handles the shared requests in your team chat, such as weekly reports, client follow-ups and admin that needs a teammate's approval.
