Claude Cowork alternatives, starting with the AI teammates your whole team can share.

Claude Cowork is Anthropic's agent for one person, and its sessions can't be shared with anyone else. If your team runs on Slack or Microsoft Teams and wants one agent everyone can ask, see and approve, you want a shared AI teammate like Dash. For solo work, the closest swaps are ChatGPT Work, Microsoft Copilot Cowork and open-source desktop apps.

Why teams look elsewhere

Why teams compare Claude Cowork alternatives.

1

The work belongs to the team, not one person

Cowork sessions live in one person's Claude account, and Anthropic says they "can't be shared with others." If you want the whole team to see a request, how it's going and the result, the agent has to live in a shared channel.

2

The team already works in Slack or Microsoft Teams

You ask Cowork in the Claude app, on the web, on mobile or in Chrome. Anthropic's Slack product is Claude Tag. It's still a beta for Team and Enterprise plans, and Microsoft Teams is listed as coming soon.

3

Every person needs a Claude plan

Cowork comes with paid Claude plans, billed per person, and Anthropic says it "consumes limits faster than Chat." Ten Team standard seats cost $200 a month billed annually, before anyone needs a premium seat.

4

Work that sends or spends needs a person to check it

In a live session, Cowork asks before it acts by default. But Anthropic advises against scheduling Cowork tasks that send messages, make purchases or are hard to undo. Teams that hand off follow-ups and payments want a person to approve each one where the rest of the team can see it.

10 Claude Cowork alternatives, sorted by who uses them.

The first six can be shared by a team, in Slack, Microsoft Teams or on your own server. The last four are agents in the style of Cowork: Microsoft's and Perplexity's versions, an agent app, and a free desktop app.

Dash

Best for a team in Slack or Microsoft Teams

Best for: One AI teammate the whole team can ask, see and approve

Dash is one teammate the whole workspace shares. Anyone can ask it in a Slack or Microsoft Teams channel, or over SMS and web chat, and it works across 3,000+ tools. For apps that have no connector, it can use a web browser. By default, sending email, posting publicly, writing to a CRM and spending money wait for approval in the thread, and anyone with access to that tool can approve, not only the person who asked. It's SOC 2 Type II attested and ISO/IEC 27001 certified, and your data is never used to train AI models.

Watch for: Dash works in your connected apps and team chat, not in folders on one person's computer.

Pricing snapshot

Free credits to start with no credit card, then one shared plan for the whole workspace with no per-seat fees. Unused credits roll over while your plan is active.

Pricing snapshot

Needs a Claude Team or Enterprise plan. Team standard seats are $25 per person a month, or $20 billed annually. Claude Tag itself is billed by usage, not by the number of people.

Watch for: @ChatGPT needs workspace credits on top of seats, and it does not work in Slack Connect channels.

Pricing snapshot

ChatGPT Work is on every plan, Free included. @ChatGPT needs a Business, Edu or Enterprise plan. Business is $25 per seat a month, or $20 billed annually ($200 a month for 10 people), plus credits.

Best for: Microsoft's version of Cowork, for companies on Microsoft 365

Copilot Cowork plans and runs long, multi-step work across Microsoft 365 apps, files and data. It can draft and send emails and post updates in Teams channels and chats, and Microsoft says it makes changes only after you approve them.

Watch for: It sits on three bills: a qualifying Microsoft 365 plan, a Microsoft 365 Copilot license, and metered Cowork use.

Pricing snapshot

Microsoft 365 Copilot is $30 per user a month, paid yearly ($300 a month for 10 people), plus a qualifying Microsoft 365 plan. Cowork use is metered in Copilot Credits.

Perplexity's help center lists Computer as part of Perplexity Pro, and Max subscribers get Brain, a memory system for it, in research preview.

Pricing snapshot

Enterprise Pro starts at $40 per seat a month ($400 a month for 10 people), or $400 per seat billed yearly.

How we researched this guide

Every price and feature here comes from the vendor's own product, pricing and help pages, as of October 15, 2026. Prices are list prices for seats or plans, before usage credits, and "for 10 people" is the per-seat price times 10, less any free seats. We left out coding agents and workflow builders.

Dash is our product. We ranked it first because a small team that works together in Slack or Microsoft Teams is exactly who we built it for.

FAQ

Questions about Claude Cowork alternatives.

Is Claude Cowork still available?

Yes. On September 16, 2026, Anthropic announced that Cowork and chat are merging into one Claude, rolling out first on Pro and Max plans. Team organizations keep chat and Cowork as separate modes for now, and on Enterprise the merged version is a beta an admin turns on.

Is there a ChatGPT or Microsoft equivalent of Claude Cowork?

Yes. ChatGPT Work completes multi-step tasks with your files, apps and tools, and it is on every ChatGPT plan, Free included. Microsoft Copilot Cowork does long, multi-step work across Microsoft 365 and needs a Microsoft 365 Copilot license at $30 per user a month, paid yearly.

Are there free alternatives to Claude Cowork?

OpenWork is a free, open-source desktop app, and OpenClaw is open source under the MIT license; with both you bring your own AI models. There's nothing to import. Add Dash to Slack or Microsoft Teams, connect the tools your team uses, and give Dash the same request you gave Cowork. Your files stay where they are, and people can keep Cowork for their own work.

Give your team one AI teammate in Slack or Microsoft Teams.

Free credits to start, no credit card. Give Dash the request you'd have given Cowork, in a channel where the whole team can see it.
