Add Dash to Teams

Dash works in Microsoft Teams. Your Teams admin installs the Dash app, and from there you message Dash like any other teammate, right inside Teams.

  • A Microsoft Teams tenant (your organization’s Microsoft 365 environment)
  • A Teams admin who can upload custom apps in the Teams admin center
  • A Dash workspace; sign up at dashpup.ai if you don’t have one

Dash is installed as a custom Teams app. A Teams admin uploads the app package in the Teams admin center:

  1. In the Dash dashboard, go through the onboarding steps. When you reach Install Dash in Microsoft Teams, click Download the Dash app package to get the .zip file.
  2. Open the Teams admin center. Go to Teams apps → Manage apps → Upload new app.
  3. Upload the .zip file. Teams processes it and the app appears in your organization’s app catalog.
  4. Back in the Dash dashboard, click Continue. Dash checks the connection and confirms when it’s ready.

Once the app is available, team members can find it in the Teams app bar and start chatting. The app is listed as Dash AI in Teams (the shorter name “Dash” was already taken in the Teams Store), so look for “Dash AI” when searching the app catalog or app bar.

If someone opens Dash in Teams before a workspace admin has connected it, Dash posts a Set up Dash AI welcome card. It posts once per chat, not on every install event. The card covers:

  • What Dash does: research, drafting, analysis, and action across your connected tools.
  • How to start: sign in with your Microsoft account so an admin can connect Dash to your workspace, then @mention Dash in a channel or message it directly.
  • What to expect: an admin has to connect Dash before it can act, some features need a paid plan, Dash uses AI and can make mistakes, and anything that sends, posts, or spends waits for your approval.
  • Buttons to sign in, contact the Dash team, and open the help docs.

Dash adds a personal tab in Teams. Open it from the Teams app bar to see:

  • Your threads — conversations you’ve had with Dash, with links to jump back in.
  • Scheduled tasks — your workspace’s scheduled tasks, with controls to pause, resume, run now, or delete.
  • Proactive nudges — toggle on or off. When on, Dash reaches out when it spots something useful.

At the bottom, there’s a Help and support section with a link to the Dash contact page.

If your organization updates permissions or you need to re-authorize, go to the Dash dashboard, open Settings, and click Reconnect Teams. This re-runs the admin-consent flow without losing your workspace data.

Dash reads the full formatting of messages sent in Teams channels. Tables, code blocks, numbered and bulleted lists, and inline links all come through intact. Paste a table or a code snippet into the channel and Dash sees the structure, not a flattened wall of text.

When someone @mentions another person in a channel message, Dash recognizes the mention and will not treat it as a message directed at Dash.

Message Dash and say:

Hi Dash. What can you do?

Dash replies with a summary of what it can help with. You can also @mention Dash in any Teams channel where it has been added.
