Connect HubSpot

HubSpot is Dash’s connection to your CRM. Once it is on, you can ask Dash in plain language to look up a contact, check a deal, log a call, manage a list, or enroll a record into a workflow, straight from Slack or Teams. Reads run right away; every write waits for your approval.

  1. In Slack or Teams, message Dash and say connect HubSpot. You can also open the Tools page at app.dashpup.ai, find HubSpot, and click Connect.
  2. Dash replies with a one-click authorization link. Click it.
  3. HubSpot’s authorization page appears. Review the access it asks for, then approve it.
  4. Dash confirms when the connection is live, usually within a few seconds.

You need a HubSpot account with permission to grant app access. Dash works with every HubSpot tier, including Free and Starter. Features that require a Professional or Enterprise plan, such as marketing campaigns, automation, commerce objects, and custom-object schemas, simply will not be available on lower-tier portals. Dash adapts automatically and tells you when a tool is not available on your tier, rather than failing the connection. Once connected, all Dash workspace members can use it, unless you restrict access to specific people.

Once connected, Dash can:

  • Find and update records: look up and edit contacts, companies, deals, and tickets.
  • Create records: add a new contact, company, deal, or ticket.
  • Read and log engagements: read emails, calls, notes, tasks, and meetings, and log new ones.
  • Search the CRM: search records and their associations.
  • Query pipelines and properties: check deal stages, pipelines, and record properties, and define new custom properties when your process needs a field that is not there yet.
  • Manage lists: create a list, find one by name, add or remove members, empty it, or delete it.
  • Enroll records into workflows: put a contact into a workflow to kick off your automation.
  • Read marketing, conversations, and CMS: browse marketing campaigns and reports, read the shared conversations inbox, and read and draft marketing-email and CMS content (Dash drafts content; it does not publish or send).
  • Access commerce data: read and update products, quotes, invoices, orders, and other commerce objects where your tier allows.
  • View organization details: list HubSpot users, teams, and roles.

HubSpot follows the same two-axis model as every other Dash tool.

The connection has an access scope:

  • Workspace (default): every Dash workspace member can use it.
  • Private: only the person who connected it and people they add to the allowlist.

Set this on the Tools page under the HubSpot connection.

Every operation has a run mode:

  • Auto: runs without asking. This is the default for reads, such as looking up a contact or reading a deal.
  • Ask: requires approval before running. This is the default for writes: creating or updating a record, managing a list, logging an engagement, and enrolling a record into a workflow.
  • Off: blocked entirely.

You can change run modes per operation from the Tools page.

Dash inherits your HubSpot permissions. It can only see and change the records your own HubSpot user account can, never more. HubSpot decides which operations are available from the tools you approve and the permissions your account already has.

When Dash is about to create or update a record, manage a list, log an engagement, or enroll a record, it goes through the standard approval flow. The approval card shows exactly what Dash is about to do. You approve or deny from the card. See How approvals work for the full breakdown.

Fully disconnecting is two steps. Do both to completely sever access.

  1. Remove the connection in Dash. Message Dash and say disconnect HubSpot, or remove HubSpot from the Tools page at app.dashpup.ai. Dash immediately stops reading from or acting on your HubSpot account.
  2. Revoke the authorization in HubSpot. Removing the connection in Dash does not, on its own, remove Dash from your HubSpot account’s authorized apps. To revoke that authorization, click the settings icon in HubSpot’s top navigation bar, go to Integrations > Connected Apps in the left sidebar, click Actions on Dash, then click Uninstall, type uninstall in the confirmation field, and click Uninstall again. HubSpot removes Dash’s access right away.

Step 1 stops Dash right away; step 2 removes the standing authorization in HubSpot. For a complete disconnect, do both.

Anything Dash already did in HubSpot stays in HubSpot. Records Dash created or updated, engagements it logged, and lists or enrollments it made are your HubSpot data and are not deleted, rolled back, or changed by disconnecting. If you want to remove any of them, do so in HubSpot directly.

To use Dash with HubSpot again, connect it again, following the steps above.
