Manage your team

A Dash workspace maps to one Slack workspace or Microsoft Teams tenant. Everyone in the workspace can talk to Dash, but what they can configure depends on their role.

There are three roles, each a superset of the one before it:

  • Member. Can talk to Dash, use connected tools (subject to access scope), and create their own scheduled tasks. Cannot change workspace settings or manage other people’s access.
  • Admin. Everything a member can do, plus: invite and remove teammates, change roles, connect and disconnect tools, set tool run modes and approvers, manage skills, and configure workspace settings.
  • Owner. Everything an admin can do, plus: transfer ownership to another person (which demotes the current owner to admin). There is exactly one owner per workspace.

You can invite people from Slack, Teams, or the web dashboard.

From Slack or Teams:

@Dash invite [email protected]

Dash sends an invitation email. When the person signs in, they’re added as a member by default.

From the web dashboard:

Go to app.dashpup.ai, open the Team page, and click Invite. Enter their email and pick a role.

You can invite anyone with a valid email address. The invitation works regardless of whether your company has claimed a domain. The one exception: if another workspace has already claimed the invitee’s email domain, the invite will fail (they need to be invited from that workspace instead).

From the Team page on the web dashboard, click the role next to a person’s name and pick the new role. You can also ask Dash:

@Dash make Sarah an admin

Only admins and the owner can change roles. The owner role can only be transferred by the current owner.

From the Team page, click the menu next to a person’s name and select Remove. Or ask Dash:

@Dash remove [email protected] from the workspace

Removing someone revokes their access to Dash and any tool connections scoped to them. Their past conversations and activity are kept for audit purposes. The owner cannot be removed (transfer ownership first).

By default, anyone in the connected Slack workspace or Teams tenant can message Dash. If you want to restrict access to only people who are members of the Dash workspace, an admin can turn on block unrecognized users:

@Dash block unrecognized users

When this is on, Dash declines messages from people who aren’t workspace members. Turn it off with:

@Dash allow unrecognized users
