Upload files and images

You can attach files to any message you send Dash, whether in Slack, Teams, on the web, or from the Chrome extension. Dash reads the content and uses it as context for your request.

  • Images (PNG, JPG, GIF, WebP) — Dash sees the image and can describe it, extract text, answer questions about what’s in it, or use it as reference for a task.
  • PDFs — Dash extracts text and layout, page by page. Works for reports, contracts, invoices, presentations saved as PDF.
  • Spreadsheets (XLSX, CSV) — Dash reads the data and can analyze, filter, chart, or summarize it.
  • Word documents (DOCX) — Dash reads the text and formatting.
  • Audio files (M4A, MP3, WAV, WebM, OGG) — Dash transcribes the audio and uses the transcript as context. This includes Slack voice notes.
  • Text files — plain text, Markdown, JSON, code files.

In Slack or Teams: use the attachment control or drag and drop a file into the message box, then type your question alongside it.

On the web: click the attachment button in the chat input, or drag and drop.

In the Chrome extension: click the attachment button in the side panel.

Audio files are capped at 25 MB (the limit of the transcription provider). Other files don’t have a hard cap, but very large files may be truncated to fit the conversation context.

Dash can also create files and attach them to its response:

  • Spreadsheets — data analysis results, formatted reports.
  • PDFs — generated documents, summaries.
  • Word documents — drafted memos, reports, proposals.
  • Images — charts, diagrams.

These appear as downloadable attachments in the conversation. Links stay valid for 30 days.
