Set a spend limit
You can set usage limits so your workspace stops accepting new conversations once a cap is reached. This keeps spending predictable without you having to watch the balance.
How it works
Section titled “How it works”Dash tracks credit consumption in real time and compares it against your limits. When a limit is reached:
- New conversations and scheduled task runs are refused until the limit resets.
- Existing conversations that are mid-turn will finish, but no new turns start.
- Dash tells the user that the workspace has hit its limit and suggests contacting an admin.
Set or change a limit
Section titled “Set or change a limit”From Slack or Teams:
@Dash set the spend limit to $100
@Dash what’s the current spend limit?
From the web dashboard:
Go to app.dashpup.ai, open the Wallet page, and scroll to Usage limits. Set your cap and save.
Only admins can set or change limits.
Check current usage
Section titled “Check current usage”From Slack or Teams:
@Dash how much have we spent this month?
@Dash what’s our credit balance?
Dash will report the current balance, usage for the period, and how much is remaining.
From the web dashboard:
The Usage page shows sessions, messages, and credit consumption for the current period and all time. The Wallet page shows your credit balance and transaction history.
What counts toward the limit
Section titled “What counts toward the limit”- Interactive conversations (Slack, Teams, web, Chrome extension) — billed.
- Scheduled task runs — billed.
- Heartbeat suggestions — not billed. These run on Dash’s cost, not yours.
- Org chart inference — not billed.
- Memory moderation — not billed.
Tips for managing cost
Section titled “Tips for managing cost”- Switch to a lighter model for routine work. See Choose your AI model.
- Lower thinking effort for simple lookups. Higher effort costs more credits.
- Consolidate asks. One detailed message is cheaper than five follow-ups in the same thread.
- Review scheduled tasks. A task running every hour costs more than one running daily.
- Set up auto-recharge if you’d rather top up automatically than hit a hard stop. See Understand credits and billing.
What’s next
Section titled “What’s next”- Understand credits and billing for how credits work, earning free credits, and buying top-ups.
